3. Account Registration and Authentication

2.1 Google Sign-In

To use Subscription Checker, you must sign in with a valid Google account. By signing in, you authorize us to:

Access your Gmail inbox in read-only mode (to scan for subscriptions locally)
Store a hashed version of your email address (for account identification and Pro verification)
Access your basic Google profile information (name, email, profile picture)

2.2 Account Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Subscription Checker. By using our service, you represent that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3.3 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. We are not liable for unauthorized access to your account resulting from compromised Google credentials.

4.3 Purchase Process

4.4 Pro Activation

5. Refund Policy

5.2 How to Request a Refund

5.3 No Refunds After 7 Days

Refund requests made more than 7 days after purchase will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis but are generally not granted unless there is a technical issue preventing use of the service.

5.4 Refund Exceptions

Refunds are not issued for the following circumstances:

Duplicate purchases: Accidental multiple payments for the same account (contact support for account credit instead)

6. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to use Subscription Checker to:

Violate any laws, regulations, or third-party rights
Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the extension code
Attempt to bypass payment mechanisms or fraudulently access Pro features
Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to abuse the service
Share your Pro account with others or resell Pro access
Transmit malware, viruses, or harmful code
Harass, threaten, or impersonate others
Scrape, mine, or extract data from our servers without permission

Violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.

7. Gmail Data and Privacy

7.1 Local Processing Only

Subscription Checker processes your Gmail data entirely locally on your device. We do not upload, store, or transmit the contents of your emails to our servers.

7.2 What We Access

The extension scans your Gmail inbox for:

Subscription receipts and billing confirmations
Renewal notices and payment reminders
Service provider names and pricing information

7.3 What We Store

We store only:

A SHA-256 hash of your email address (not the email itself)
Purchase records (order ID, date, status) to verify Pro access
Account metadata (sign-up date, last sign-in)

7.4 Data Jurisdiction and Compliance

All local data stays within your browser storage. Minimal account data (email hash and purchase records) is processed via Lemon Squeezy and stored in secure U.S.-based servers (Supabase on AWS, Vercel Edge Network) in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and applicable international data protection laws.

For EU users: Your data is transferred to the U.S. under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and is protected by appropriate safeguards. You have the right to request access, correction, or deletion at any time.

7.5 Revoking Access

You can revoke Gmail permissions at any time through your Google Account permissions page. This will stop the extension from scanning new emails.

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 Ownership

Subscription Checker, including its code, design, logos, trademarks, and all intellectual property, is owned by us. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our explicit written permission.

8.2 License to Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Subscription Checker for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

8.3 Third-Party Trademarks

Subscription Checker displays logos and names of third-party services (Netflix, Spotify, etc.) for identification purposes only. These trademarks belong to their respective owners and do not imply endorsement or affiliation.

9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

9.1 "As-Is" Service

Subscription Checker is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

The service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fully accurate
All subscriptions will be detected (some emails may be missed)
Cancellation links will always work (vendor sites may change)
The service will meet your specific needs or expectations

9.2 No Financial Advice

Subscription Checker is a tracking tool, not financial advice. We are not responsible for your financial decisions, subscription management choices, or any consequences arising from using our service.

9.3 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

Lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
Missed subscription cancellations or unexpected charges
Errors in subscription detection or billing date estimates
Third-party service disruptions (Gmail API, Lemon Squeezy, etc.)
Indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from use of Subscription Checker shall not exceed the amount you paid for Pro access (maximum $14.99 USD).

10. Termination

10.1 Termination by You

You may stop using Subscription Checker at any time by:

Uninstalling the Chrome extension
Revoking Gmail permissions in your Google Account settings
Requesting account deletion at support@subscriptionchecker.com

10.2 Termination by Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:

Violate these Terms of Use
Engage in fraudulent activity or payment disputes
Abuse the service in a way that harms other users or our systems

Terminated accounts are not eligible for refunds unless termination was due to our error.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our service, legal requirements, or business practices. When we make significant changes, we will:

Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
Notify you via email (if we have your email on file)
Display a notice in the extension

Your continued use of Subscription Checker after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the service.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which we operate, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12.3 Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except for small claims court cases. You waive the right to participate in class-action lawsuits.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of law, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Subscription Checker regarding your use of the service. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
